Mining networks rely on diverse communication solutions to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity. These solutions range from traditional wired systems like leaky feeders and fiber optic cables to modern wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, private LTE, and mesh networks. Specific technologies include digital mobile radio (DMR), terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA), and iCOM radios, with options for both handheld and vehicle-mounted devices. The choice of technology depends on the specific needs of the mine, including the environment (open-pit vs. underground), the required range and band width, and the need for data transmission and voice communication.
Wired Communication:
1. Leaky feeder systems: These systems use a coaxial cable with strategically placed antennas to transmit radio signals throughout a mine, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for underground communication.
2. Fiber optic cables: Fiber optic cables offer high bandwidth and immunity to electro magnetic interference, making them ideal for transmitting large amounts of data and supporting high-speed communication networks.
3. Twisted pair and CAT5/6 cables: These are used for shorter-distance communication within specific areas of the mine.
Joiwo’s Mining Telephone Communication System provides intrinsically safe isolation protection between the Surface Telephone System(PABX or IP PABX) and Underground Mine Telephones. Its Graphical User Interface (the Dispatching Operator Console) enables real-time monitoring of all connected Underground Mine telephones. The system’s emergency features grant the operator full control over all telephones, even during a complete failure of the surface telephone system. The system comprises three main components:
1. The Main Rack: Houses the power supply, interface barriers, and underground cable connections.
2. The Mine Telephones.
3. The Dispatching Operator Console.
Interface barriers provide two telephone connections per unit, supporting up to 256 mine telephone lines in total. Max line length of 8+ km, with digital hybrid setting. The Dispatching Operator console is a Windows-based software application compatible with 32 or 64-bit PCs. Both the software and the operator’s master phone can be located remotely from the Main Rack. This allows the operator to be situated off-site or in a redundant control room, enabling the monitoring of several mine sites from a single location.
