Fire telephones(e.g., VoCALL Type A Outstations) serve as a critical wired backup solution, operating on half-duplex communication with battery support and system monitoring. Mandated in numerous countries for buildings exceeding four stories (UK regulation: BS9999), they address vulnerabilities in conventional firefighter radios, which frequently malfunction in steel-intensive high-rises due to signal disruption from fire corona.
When selecting EVC system outstations, compliance with regional regulations is essential. For instance, UK standards stipulate:
- Type A Outstations: Required for evacuation/firefighting zones.
- Type B Outstations: Permitted only if Type A installation is physically unfeasible.
- Disabled Refuge Areas: Both types are acceptable, but Type B is restricted to environments with ambient noise below 40dBA.
Fire telephone system
The Fire Telephone system is a special system for fire communication. The Fire Telephone system has a private circuit for transmitting signals. In the event of fire, the fire telephone system can be used to directly communicate with the fire control center. For example, the fire extension telephone(fixed) installed in the field can be lifted and the fire telephone mobile handset can be plugged into the fire telephone jack socket to talk with the staff in fire control center. It is suitable for hotels, restaurants, office buildings, teach buildings, banks,
warehouses, libraries, computer rooms and switching rooms.
