In the first quarter, Zhejiang’s import and export growth rate ranked first among the major foreign trade provinces and cities in the coastal areas. According to the statistics of Hangzhou Customs, the total import and export value of the province in the first quarter of this year was 663.57 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%, of which exports were 491.47 billion yuan and imports were 172.10 billion yuan, up 8.6% and 1.8% respectively, and the growth rate was higher than the national.
“It is particularly worth mentioning that in the first quarter, Zhejiang’s exports accounted for 0.1% of the national total export value compared with last year.” Lu Haisheng, director of the Hangzhou Customs Statistical Analysis Department, said that 0.1 percentage points were hard-earned. On the one hand, The export of major markets has grown rapidly. On the other hand, the market diversification pattern has been continuously optimized. In the first quarter, Zhejiang’s exports to the EU, ASEAN, Africa and Japan increased by 9.3%, 21.7%, 15.6% and 10.9%. Among them, the import and export of countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” was 221.55 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, which was higher than the overall growth rate of the province’s foreign trade by 3.7 percentage point.
From the perspective of export product structure, mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products still dominated, up 9.5% and 9.0% respectively. At the same time, high-tech products exported 34.51 billion yuan in the first quarter, up 11.5% year-on-year, accounting for 7.0% of the province’s exports. Among them, the export of solar cells was 5.87 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 47.8%, ranking first among the major export commodities.
From different regions, Yongjinjia has contributed a lot to the growth of exports. Ningbo, Jinhua and Jiaxing exported 130.21 billion yuan, 85.23 billion yuan and 45.82 billion yuan respectively in the first quarter, up 10.9%, 6.4% and 10.9% respectively, and contributed a total of 57.3% to the province’s foreign trade export growth. Lishui, Zhoushan, Huzhou and other foreign trade export value relative to the districts and cities, the first quarter increased significantly, up 35.7%, 26.0% and 12.3%, respectively, showing that the province’s foreign trade regional development is more coordinated.
In the first three months of this year, the structure of imported goods in Zhejiang was better, especially the import of solid waste was greatly reduced. In the first quarter, the imports of resource-based commodities continued to increase. The total import of the top 20 resource-based commodities was 88.02 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.0%, accounting for 51.1% of the province’s total import value, an increase of 1.1 percentage points. At the same time, imports of major solid wastes (including scrap metal, waste paper and waste plastics) fell sharply. The province imported a total of 599,000 tons in the first quarter, a decrease of 50.7% year-on-year.
It is worth noting that the proportion of exports of private enterprises in our province has also continued to increase. In the first quarter, the import and export of private enterprises was 475.39 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%, of which exports were 384.15 billion yuan, accounting for 78.2% of the total value of exports, an increase of 0.8 percentage points.
