Global crude steel output rose by 4.9% year-on-year in March 2019

World crude steel production in the first three months of 2019 was 444 million tons, an increase of 4.5% over the same period in 2018. Asian crude steel production was 313 million tons, up 7.0% from the first quarter of 2018. EU crude steel production was 42.3 million tons, down 2.0% from the same period in 2018. North American crude steel production in the first three months of 2019 was 30.7 million tons, an increase of 4.0% year-on-year.
EU: Italy’s crude steel output in March 2019 was 2.3 million tons, down 0.3% from March 2018. French crude steel production was 1.4 million tons, up 2.3% year-on-year. Spain’s crude steel output was 1.4 million tons, up 5.9% year-on-year.
In March 2019, US crude steel production was 7.8 million tons, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year.
In March 2019, Ukrainian crude steel production was 2 million tons, an increase of 15.0% year-on-year.
In March 2019, Brazil’s crude steel output was 2.8 million tons, down 8.6% year-on-year.
In March 2019, Turkey’s crude steel output was 3.1 million tons, down 11.7% year-on-year.
China’s crude steel output in March 2019 was 80.3 million tons, an increase of 10.0% from March 2018.
India’s crude steel output was 9.4 million tons, down 1.0% from March 2018.
Japanese crude steel production was 9.1 million tons, unchanged from the March 2018 production.
South Korea’s crude steel output was 6.3 million tons, up 2.8% from March 2018.
